Instructors
Irene Miguel
Irene began her dance training at the age of six in her homeland of Argentina. She studied ballet, jazz and contemporary dance and both performed and taught from a young age. She moved to the UK in 1991 and danced for prestigious companies such as Saddlers Wells in London.
She began dancing salsa in 1993 and was asked to teach for top Latin promoters such as Elder Sanchez. She formed two performance groups – La Dinamica (‘the dynamic’) and Ahora Si (‘right now’) – with a range of top dancers from the capital’s growing scene.
During this time she worked with Robert Charlemagne, Homero Gonzalez, Leon Rose, Tamambo, Susana Montero, SuperMario, Laith Sami and a host of others.
In 1998 she discovered New York On-2 style mambo when Descarga Latina first performed in the UK. She studied with leading New York teachers such as Nelson Flores and Eddie Torres and found that mambo brought together the professional side of dancing – the lines, beauty and elegance – with the flavour of salsa, in a way that she craved and had never experienced before.
In New York she met Edgard Del Rosario in 2000 and they became dance partners and began teaching and performing all over the world. They spent four years developing the MamboLifestyle system and Irene has launched the training system in London in 2006.

She subsequently went on to become resident at Crunch in Birmingham, Culture at The Tall Trees in Yarm, Escape in Swansea, headed the line-up on The Gift From The Gods Tour and did a monthly guest Mastermix on Galaxy 102 and 105.
Drawing on both her dance and DJ backgrounds salsa has become an obsession for Emma who, along with her dance partner Mushi, has travelled the world performing, teaching and DJing. Emma is currently resident at Salsology.
In 2002, Emma and Mushi were honoured with an award for the Most Inspiring Newcomers and in 2003 were invited by Susana Montero to judge the British Salsa Competition. Emma also features on Susana Montero's Ladies Styling video sold worldwide.
In early 2006 the inaugural Brit Salsafest took place at the prestigious Winter Gardens in Blackpool. Emma, her sister Kate and UK Salsa produced the festival which was attended by 2000 dancers from all over the world, an astounding success for a first congress and one surpassed only by the 2007 event.
Emma and her sister Kate are both directors of a new UK Congress, The Great British Salsa Experience to be held at Manchester's stunning Town Hall on November 21 - 23 2008. The Pure Salsa team will be attending with a group, speak to Sally for more information.
